My First Task for Developers
Jira has every field you could want and a setup process that punishes you for it. My First Task keeps the parts that matter for a small engineering team — boards, workflows, dependencies, and a real issue tracker — without the rest.
Where This Usually Gets Messy
How Developers Use It
Set up your project's workflow
Start from the default Idea → Planning → In Progress → Review/Testing → Launch → Maintenance → Completed lifecycle, or apply the Launch a SaaS template to get moving faster.
Break work into tasks with real dependencies
Use subtasks for anything that needs its own owner, and mark explicit dependencies so blocked work is visible before someone starts on it.
Log bugs in the built-in issue tracker
Severity, environment, steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual — captured separately from feature tasks, with its own Open → Retest → Verified pipeline.
Track velocity without a status meeting
Reports show completion rate, overdue tasks, and issue severity breakdown, so a standup doesn't have to double as a status report.
Start From a Built-In Template
The Launch a SaaS template ships with the app — apply it and the stages below are ready before you add a single task.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a replacement for Jira?
For a small team that doesn't need Jira's full configurability (custom fields, advanced permission schemes, marketplace plugins), yes. For a large org already deep in Jira workflows, probably not.
Can I track a bug and its fix together?
Yes — an issue can be linked to the task that resolves it, so the bug report and the fix stay connected without duplicating information.
Does it integrate with GitHub?
Not currently — there are no third-party integrations today. If that's a hard requirement, it's worth knowing upfront.
